Research:

My research interest focused on transparent ceramics and their optical and photonic applications.

1.Spinel Transparent Ceramics. To fabricate high optical quality and high mechanical strength transparent spinel (MgAl2O4 and AlON) ceramics by microstructure refinement for tough optical applications such as windows, domes and consumer electronics.

2.Laser Ceramics. To develop the ceramic processing for RE:YAG, LuAG and other garnet laser ceramics with large size and composite structures. To develop the fabrication technology for various rare earth doped sesquioxide ceramics such as Y2O3 and Lu2O3 with low scattering loss.

3.Novel ceramic forming technology. To develop the environmental friendly colloidal based near net-shaping techniques for transparent ceramics with reliable performance, large size and complex shape. To develop the complicate configuration type of transparent ceramics by 3-D printing forming techniques such as DIW, DLP, and etc.
