Ceremony held to confer Visiting Professorship of SICCAS to Prof. B.V.R. Chowdari

A ceremony was held on January 17th at Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS) to confer the visiting professorship position to Prof. B.V.R. Chowdari of the National University of Singapore. The ceremony was hosted by Tianhou He, the deputy director of the Personnel division of SICCAS.

At the ceremony, Prof. Yan Liu, the Communist Party Secretary of SICCAS presented Prof. Chowdari with the certificate, delivered a speech introducing Prof. Chowdari’s resume, employment and academic achievements and sincerely greeted and acknowledged his joining in the institute. Prof. Chowdari particularly looked back on the cooperation between SICCAS and him. He also talked about closely contacts with several scientists of SICCAS and their strong efforts in the development of the Solid State Ionics. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to SICCAS for its contributions to Asian Solid State Ionics Society.

After the ceremony, Prof. Chowdari gave a lecture entitled “Solid State Ionic Materials and Energy-Related Applications”, and conducted a heated discussion with participants present.

Prof. B.V.R. Chowdari has been engaged in Solid State Ionics for a long time, serving as the professor of the National University of Singapore, Fellow of Singaporean Institute of Physics, the Executive Director of “Indian Research Initiatives” and the academician and vice president of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials. He will work at SICCAS for a week to give his guidance for the postgraduates of CAS Key Laboratory of Materials for Energy Conversion on their research work.
