On the invitation by Prof. Jianlin Shi and Prof. Hangrong Chen, Prof. Baoen Shan from Hebei Medical University Fourth Hospital (HMUFH) visited SICCAS on July 6, 2010. As the chief scientist and vice director of HMUFH, Prof. Shan is mainly responsible for the researches of cancer therapeutics, especially the biological and gene therapy for breast and esophagus cancers. Prof. Shan presented an interesting and impressive lecture entitled “Advances in studies on the biotechnologies for the biological therapeutics of cancer”. This visit will promot the research collaboration and academic exchange between HMUFH and SICCAS, mainly on potential applications of mesoporous nano-materials as drug carriers for therapeutics of malignant tumors.

Researchers and students from State Key Laboratory of High Performance Ceramics and Superfine Microstructure attended the lecture, and ideas were exchanged with Prof. Baoen Shan on the topics interesting to both. After the lecture, Prof. Shan visited the laboratories of mesoporous and low-dimensional nanomaterials group of State Key Lab.
