Cooperative Project of Development of Single Sodium Sulphur Battery Signed

The signing ceremony for the cooperative project of the Research of Key Technology for High - Capacity Urban Electric Network Battery Storage System, Development of Single Sodium Sulphur Battery between SICCAS and Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company was held on August 21st 2006 in Shanghai Pudong Hotel. Officials from Energy Source Division, CAS Bureau of High Technology; CAS Shanghai Branch; Division of Rural Technology and Social Development, Shanghai Science and Technology Committee; Science and Technology Committee of Changning District attended the signing ceremony. Director Prof. Hongjie Luo of SICCAS and Deputy General Manager Mr. Qiantu Ruan signed the collaboration agreement.


 

 

 

 

 

 

With establishment and commercial operation of megawatt battery storage system in 2010 as ultimate goal, the project of High-Capacity Urban Electric Network Battery Storage System will be divided into three phases, i.e. single battery, battery module and high-capacity urban electric network battery storage system. The implementation of this project will alter the structure of electric power supply and provide solutions to major problems so as to ensure electric power supply security, peak load shifting of urban electric power supply, improvement of power efficiency and construction of dispersed power supply center.
