Prof. Pavol Sajgalik visited Shanghai Institute of Ceramics

Prof. Pavol Sajgalik visited Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS) from Nov28th to December 2nd,2019 for academic exchanges. During his visiting, Prof. Pavol Sajgalik gave a lecture entitled “Hot-pressed ultra-high creep resistant silicon carbide ceramics”, which covered research developments of the silicon carbide ceramics with a superior combination property and their applications. His lecture arose a deep discussion among the researchers and students. Besides, Prof. Pavol Sajgalik also visited the labs and discussed with the young researchers of SICCAS.

Prof. Pavol Sajgalik is a well-known scientist in material science. His work focuses on oxide and non-oxide structural ceramics, ceramic (Nano-) composites, microstructural design, relationship between microstructure and properties. He is specialized in the Si3N4 ceramics, biomaterials, and ceramics related to the energy and environmental applications. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and more than 13 books. He was also a guest editor of 4 special issues of the international journals. He is the member of the World Academy of Ceramics, president of the European Ceramic Society (2015-), President of the Slovak Silicate Society (2000-). He is also the fellow of the American Ceramic Society, member of the Council of the European Ceramic Society, member of the Ceramic Society of Japan, member of the Presidium of the Slovak Glass Society and so on. He was awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (1991-2005), JSPS fellowship, a status of visiting scientist at Max-Planck-Institut für Metallforschung, visiting Scholar of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1995-1996), etc.
