Dr. Rainer Hoell from Robert Bosch Stiftung Visited SICCAS

On Sep. 12 2006, Dr. Rainer Hoell from Robert Bosch Stiftung and Dr. Jiaqing Yu from Asia-Pacific Technical Research Center of Bosch Visited Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. They were warmly welcomed by Deputy Director of SICCAS Prof. Lixin Song, and Division Chief Prof. Zhaoyin Wen.

Prof. Zhaoyin Wen, Chief of Division of Scientific and Technologic Management, briefly introduced to the visitors the organization structure, personnel configuration, research advances, graduate student education, and other profile of SICCAS, while Dr. Rainer Hoell presented an introduction about history and presence of the Robert Bosch Stiftung.

Founded in 1964, Robert Bosch Stiftung was one of the largest funds associated with private company in Germany. With a nonprofit principle and 92% shareholding of Robert Bosch Co. Ltd., the fund focuses its support on social sciences, medical care, international exchange and education, and it operates three public medical and research facilities in Stuttgart.

In order to strengthen and expand its contribution in the exchanges between Germany as well as Europe at large and their important partner countries, the Robert Bosch Stiftung has recently started up its support for the exchange and cooperative projects between Chinese and German scientists, which include exchange visits of scientists and joint training of graduate students between Chinese and German organizations. Dr. Rainer Hoell expressed their hope of contacting top research institute and universities in China and seeking cooperative projects of scientific research between China and Germany.

Prof. Lixin Song, Deputy Director of SICCAS, expressed warm welcome to the guests and his hope of strengthening exchange ties between two sides, obtaining substantial achievements from cooperation, and further improving scientific exchanges and cooperation between China and Germany.

The two sides also discussed in detail the issues including establishment, application and implementation of cooperative projects, and specified plans of further contact.
