Researchers from of A. F. Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Radboud University Nijmegen of Netherlands Visit SICCAS

Invited by Prof. Anhua Wu of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics (SICCAS), Prof. Roman Pisarev and Dr. Alexandra Kalashnikova from A. F. Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as Dr. Alexey Kimel from Radboud University Nijmegen of Netherlands visited SICCAS from Nov.21 to Dec.1 2015.

A seminar was held in SICCAS during their visit. They showed their research progress and gave the presentations entitled: “Particular features of linear and nonlinear optical phenomena in magnetic borates (CuB2O4, Ni3B2O6)” by Prof. Pisarev, “Ultrafast opto-magnetic phenomena in dielectrics” by Dr. Kalashnikova, and “Femtosecond opto-magnetism: Controlling and Harnessing the Fundamental Forces in Magnets” by Dr. Kimel. Their research arose great interests of the participants and enlightened the graduates on the future study trend.

After the seminar, Prof. Pisarev and Dr. Kalashnikova were invited to participate in “Photonic, electronic and magnetic phenomena in advanced materials” workshop held in Shanghai University. They also visited State Key magnetic laboratory, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences accompanied with Prof. Anhua Wu.

Prof. Pisarev’s research interest focuses on optical property of magnetic crystal and ferroelectric crystal. During his five decades’ research work, he has published over 230 papers and presented over 180 invited lectures in the international conferences. He received many awards from Russian Academy of Sciences. Prof. Pisarev also attaches great importance to development international cooperation with the world renowned institutes and universities. Recent year, he collaborates with Dr. Kimel on the laser induced Rare earth orthforreites (RFeO3) single crystals, which makes RFeO3 single crystal known as an hot topic in the Magneto-Optic and ultra fast Opto-magnetism field. Their research achievements were published on Nature.

Their visit was supported by the NSFC-RFBR joint project, State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, and Bureau of International cooperation, CAS.
