On September 27-30, 2008, at the invitation of Prof. Zhaoyin Wen and Prof. Tinglian Wen, the Chairman of the Chinese Society for Solid State Ionics, Prof. B.V.R.Chowdari, a full professor of National University of Singapore, visited SICCAS and gave a brilliant academic lecture titled “Electrode Materials for Li-ion Batteries”.

Prof. B.V.R.Chowdari serves as the President of the Asian Society for Solid State Ionics and the President of the Materials Research Society of Singapore.  He is now the member of the editorial board of several international journals such as Solid State Ionics and Journal of Solid State Electrochemistry, etc.  He has so far published over 150 refereed journal publications and edited 25 books.  His research is now focused on the new electrode and electrolyte materials for lithium ion batteries and some fast ionic conductors.

The lecture of Prof. B.V.R.Chowdari brought in a new and unique view which aroused great interests of the young students and many researchers. The lecture will surely provide a guideline for the future development of the new materials for lithium ion batteries and nanomaterials, and give inspirations to the research staffs in SICCAS.  After the lecture, the researchers of SICCAS discussed with Prof. B.V.R.Chowdari on the possible bilateral cooperation.
