Prof. Lidong Chen is selected as a new board member of ITS

At the 27th International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT’2008) on Aug.3-7, 2008 in Oregon, USA, the International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) held an annual meeting of ITS board members to select new board members. After a recommendation by the society and a competitive voting of board members, Prof. Lidong Chen from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS) was selected as a new ITS board member for a three-year service. Two new members were selected this year.

ITS is an academic organization that takes quite a lot of academic activities within the international thermoelectric community. There are totally 12 board members now. Three, including Prof. Chen, are from Asia. Prof. Chen is the only member from China now.

Prof. Lidong Chen has been working in the research area of thermoelectric materials and devices for many years. Supported by many state projects including 973, 863, NSFC Extinguished Young Scientist grants and other NSFC projects etc., the research team led by Prof. Chen, including Chen’s group and a few other groups, has made very important contributions to worldwide thermoelectric research and is recognized as one of the top-level TE research teams in the world.
