Researchers from SICCAS attended the 11th Asian conference on solid state ionics

The 11th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics was held in Coimbatore, India, on 9th-13th June, 2008. This conference was organized by BHARATHIAR University. Two scientists from the Energy Material Research Center of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Zhaoyin Wen and Assoc. Prof. Yu Liu participated in the conference. Prof. Zhaonyin Wen was invited to give a 30-minute talk on the topic of lithium storage energy materials, while Dr. Yu Liu also presented the recent progress on all-solid Li-ion batteries.

The Asian conference on solid state ionics, which is held every two years, provides a regional forum for scientists, engineers, technologists to discuss the latest development and share knowledge in the discipline of solid state ionics. It promotes the collaboration among solid state ionicists not only from Asia but also from the other regions. The conference deals with all the practical, fundamental, conventional and new aspects of solid state ionics. Due to the global crisis of energy and pollution, this conference particularly stresses the development of new materials for pollution free energy devices.

There were 147 formally registered representatives and over 200 other attendees in the conference. Totally 128 papers were presented on the conference. The delegates mainly came from China, Japan, Korea, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, etc. The scientists from the countries outside Asia, such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Canada, also presented their new results on the conference.

Prof. Zhanyin Wen was selected as new Chinese Executive Members of the Asian Society for Solid State Ionics.

The 12th Asian conference on solid state ionics will be held in Wuhan, China, 2010.
