Professor Tetsuya Osaka Visited SICCAS

Professor Tetsuya Osaka, one of the world's most renowned scientists in the electrochemical field, visited SICCAS and gave a brilliant lecture titled "Electrochemical Nanotechnology for Future Creative Science” on June 27,2008 .He has been appointed as Vice President of International Society of Electrochemistry, Vice President of The Electrochemical Society of Japan, Vice President of The Surface Finishing Society of Japan and President of Japan Institute of Electronics Packaging. Many achievements have been made by Prof. Osaka in preparation of high-density magnetic thin film by electrochemical method, fabrication of magnetic dot arrays on silicon surface and development of chemical sensors and Energy Storage Systems. He has published a large number of important papers on many influential international journals such as Nature, Journal of the American Chemical Society, etc.

Professor Osaka’s lecture gave some examples about development of magnetic film for ultra high-density magnetic recording and some novel materials developed by electrochemical nanotechnology in his recent research. The lecture was so interesting that no vacant seat is found in the lecture room despite the heavy rainstorm outside. He gave a conclusion to basic stance for R&D: Passion, Need, Free idea and control on atomic and molecular orders, which holds true for research in every field and gave students in SICCAS a new thought for developing new materials. Research staff in SICCAS, especially those specialized in electrochemical fields, will surely benefit from the new ideas of his lecture.
