The 4th Asian Conference on Crystal Growth and Crystal Technology(CGCT-4) was held in Sendai, Japan from May 21 to 24, 2008. More than three hundred scientists from Japan, China, Korea, India etc. attended this conference. Prof. Weiqing Jin, Prof. Haosu Luo, Prof. Jiayue Xu, Dr. Yanqing Zheng, Dr. Anhua Wu and Dr. Shangke Pan were invited to participate in this meeting.

Extensive and profound discussions about Compound Semiconductors, Laser crystal, Oxide Crystal, Fluoride Crystal, Crystal Characterization, Crystal growth technology and Crystal growth Fundamental etc. were carried out by the scientists attending this conference.
Prof. Haosu Luo made a keynote lecture entitled “The recent progress of ralaxor-based single crystals and their device applications” in the Oxide Crystal session. The other scientists of my institute made their oral presentations and posters in Oxide Crystal session, Optical Application session and Piezoelectric Application session, respectively. The proceedings of this conference will be published in Journal of Crystal Growth. The new trends and developments of international crystal Materials brought out in this meeting will exert important influence on the optimization of research direction layout of related fields in our institute. After the conference, the scientists visited Tohoku University, National Institute for Material Science (NIMS) and The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) etc., which will improve cooperation among our institute and these universities and institutes.
