Dr. Andreas Rüdiger from Research Center of Jülich visited SICCAS

Invited by Prof. Xianlin Dong, Dr. Andreas Rüdiger from Research Center of Jülich visited SICCAS on May 14th 2007 with his colleague. Dr. Rüdiger delivered a speech entitled “Scanning Probe Microscopy on Ferroelectric Nanoislands”. The wonderful report aroused great interests among the staff and postgraduate in SICCAS, and they had lively discussions and exchanges after the speech.
 
Accompanied by Prof. Yongling Wang and vice Prof. Genshui Wang, the two guests also visited the exhibition hall, some labs of research center of information functional materials and devices. They highly praised the numerous research achievements of SICCAS, and the two sides both expressed their wish to further promote cooperation and exchanges of the two institutes.
 
As one of the 15 Helmholtz Research Centers in the Federal Republic of Germany, Research Centre of Jülich, is also one of the largest research institutions in Europe, with about 4500 staff members dedicated to exploring topics that are of current social relevance. In Jülich, scientists from the disciplines of physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and the engineering sciences base their close cooperation on the key competencies of physics and scientific computing. They devote themselves to social challenges in the fields of health, information, the environment and energy. The work comprises both long-term contributions in basic research for science and technology, as well as concrete technological applications for industry. Zhiyong Zhou, a potential PhD graduate, has got the Humboldt fellowship of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in March, 2007. He will go to Research Center of Jülich for one-year exchange research work with Dr. Rüdiger in September.
