Invited by Prof. Lixin Song, vice director of SICCAS, Prof. Gary Messing and Prof. Longqing Chen from the Pennsylvania State University visited SICCAS on May 30^th 2007. Prof. Messing delivered a speech on “material research and graduate student education of the Pennsylvania State University” and received warm welcome from Prof. Hongjie Luo, Director of SICCAS and Prof. Lixin Song and other over eighty researchers and graduate students.

 

Pennsylvania State University is a renowned university in the US, especially with outstanding research on inorganic materials that is famous around the world. As the former president of the American Ceramic Society, Prof. Messing is a world-renowned scientist of material science and engineering.

 

Director Hongjie Luo also introduced the research fields and graduate student education of SICCAS to the two guests. Prof. Messing and Prof. Chen showed great interests in the cooperative research on ferroelectric crystals and transparent ceramics, and the two sides discussed the possibility of short-term exchange of students. The two sides both expressed their wish to reach a memorandum for cooperative exchange on the basis of this visit, so as to further promote cooperation and exchange of the two sides.

 

Accompanied by Prof. Song, the two guests also visited the exhibition hall, vacuum-air plasma coating lab and inorganic material testing center, and they highly praised the numerous research achievements of SICCAS.
