They traveled to the Yanqihu Campus of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing to compete for a place in the final eight.
On the first day of the competition, our team from the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics faced the team representing the Institute of Software at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The opposing team exhibited formidable strength, quickly taking a significant lead due to the dominant presence of their 2.05-meter center and the exceptional three-point shooting and sharp drives by their 1.95-meter power forward. In the second quarter, our team implemented full-court pressure and robust defense, gradually closing the gap, with the halftime score at 15:17. In the second half, we struggled to contain the outstanding performance of the opposing team's number three player, who excelled in fast breaks, three-pointers, and driving to the basket. With number three's strong performance, the opposing team extended their lead, and the final score settled at 32:47. The Institute of Software eventually became the champions of the tournament, and after our initial loss, our aim shifted to securing the fifth position.
On the second day of the competition, we faced the team representing the Institute of Modern Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who had previously lost in the A group. As the game began, the Institute of Modern Physics' number 8 player demonstrated a strong desire for offense, repeatedly driving to the basket to score. However, our players showed no signs of weakness, keeping the score close through patient organization and active rebounding. The first half ended in a 22-22 tie.In the second half, the Institute of Modern Physics took the lead multiple times, primarily through the penetration of number 8 and the shooting of number 15. Our players, fueled by relentless determination, refused to let the opposing team widen the gap. In the final quarter, we actively defended the perimeter, forcing several turnovers and going on an 8-0 scoring run. The game concluded with a score of 37-30. With this hard-earned victory, we advanced to the national fifth place match!
