Group leader: Professor Zhaoyin Wen, Dr. 

Professor Zhaoyin Wen was born in July 1963, and received his Bachelor degree in Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology in 1984 and master and Ph.D degrees in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1987 and 1998, respectively. Since July 1987, he joined in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics and his research interests focused on secondary sodium and lithium ion batteries. He has once worked as a visiting scholar in National University of Singapore during Sept. to Dec., 1992 and a visiting professor in Mie University, Japan, during Jan., 1999- to Nov., 2002. Since Dec., 1998 he has been a full-time professor in Shanghai institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is now a Ph.D supervisor and director of Energy Materials Research Center of the institute. Currently his research areas include fundamental research of fast-ion conductor, engineering and application of secondary batteries based on sodium-based electrolyte, secondary lithium (ion) batteries, fusion energy related materials and applications, etc.

Prof. Wen has been in charge of more than 50 research projects, such as key projects of Natural Science Foundation of China, National Important Base Research and Development Program “973” and National High Technology Research and Development Program “863” of China, Supporting Project of the China Ministry of Science and Technology of China, key and important projects from Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Committee, and numerous projects from enterprise, such as Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company, etc.

Prof. Wen has so far published over 210 journal papers and owned over 80 patents. He won the first Invention Prize of Shanghai Municipality and was awarded as the National Excellent Scientific Researcher in 2012. He serves as chairman of Solid State Ionics Branch of Chinese Society for Ceramics and Executive Members of the Asian Society for Solid State Ionics. He is the Associate Editor of Energy Storage Science and Technology, Editorial Board Member of Journal of Inorganic Materials, Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society, Journal of Building Materials.
