The Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Research Center was founded in 2001. The research is focused on biomedical materials and devices. The center has 57 research staff including 1 Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 5 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors ，5 Research Assistant, 3 Senior Engineers, 1 Postdoctoral Researchers, 14 PhD students and 20 master students.

Research Fields ：

1. Bioactive materials and tissue engineering scaffolds

(1) The degradable bioactive materials for tissue repair and tissue engineering applications

(including bioactive glasses, bioactive ceramics, biopolymers, bioactive composites ,nano-

biomaterials, scaffolds)

(2) The biomaterials for drug delivery and the research on drug release system

(the organic/inorganic composites with nano-structure for delivery)

(3) The mechanism of cell-biomaterials interaction

(effect of material on the adhesion, proliferation, differentiation and gene expression of cells)

(4)Characterization of the physical and chemical properties and biocompatibility evaluation of

biomaterials
