Researchers from SICCAS Attended the 5th Asian Meeting on Electroceramics (AMEC-5)

The 5th Asian Meeting on Electroceramics (AMEC-5) was held in Bangkok, Thailand during 10-14 December 2006. More than 400 scientists and researchers from universities, institutes and industries working in the fields of research, development and manufacturing of electroceramics from all over the world (Asia, Europe and USA) attended the meeting.

The main theme of the meeting covered materials devices, processing, applications, modeling and characterization of a wide range of electroceramics including microwave dielectrics, thick and thin films ferroelectrics, pyroelectrics, piezoelectrics, ceramics and composites and their applications, conductive ceramics, optical ceramics, etc. Invited by Prof. Tawee Tunkasiri, General Chair of Conference, Prof. Yongxiang Li and Prof. Haosu Luo delivered invited talks entitled as “Study on Intergrowth Bi2WO6-Bi3TiNbO9 Lead-free Piezoelectric Ceramics” and “Multilayer Actuators and Ultrasonic Motors Based on Piezoelectric Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3 Single Crystal Materials”, respectively. Mengjia Wu, Ph D student from SICCAS, won the second place in the poster presentation of the meeting. The acquirement of the award demonstrates the achievements of graduate student training and education of SICCAS.

The AMEC-5 has enhanced the cooperation and friendship among academic scholars and industrial counterparts and promoted an international forum in the Asian region. The 6th Asian Meeting on Electroceramics will be held in Tsukuba, Japan, in 2008.
