Research Fields

The research of the Biomaterials Surface Engineering Group is focused on surface modification of biomedical materials. The purposes of the research are to improve the bioactivity, biocompatibility, antibacterial property, wear-resistance, corrosion-resistance and other biological, mechanical and chemical properties of biomaterials using surface modification technologies, such as plasma spraying, ion implantation and deposition, micro-arc oxidation and sol-gel. The research fields involved in following areas:

  1. Nanosized and Functionalized Surface of Biomedical Ti alloys
  2. Surface Modification of Biomaterials Using Plasma Immersion Ion Implantation and Deposition (PIII) Technology
  3. Plasma Sprayed Bioactive Ceramic Coatings
  4. Antibacterial Biomaterials
  5. Surface Modification of PEEK
  6. Surface Modication of Biodegradable Magnesium Alloys
  7. Graphene Film for Biomedical Application
