On October 28th, 2014, The Shanghai International Forum on Advanced Bioceramics was successfully held in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS). The forum was chaired by Prof. Jiang Chang from SICCAS and the theme of the forum is “Perspective and future trends of bioceramic research”. More than 30 scientists and experts from Switzerland, France, Japan, Australia, America, Indonesia, and China attended the forum.
Prof. Lixin Song, the director of SICCAS, gave the opening address. He expressed warmly welcome to all the participants. Prof. Song also reviewed the development of bioceramics in SICCAS. He expected that this forum could promote the exchanges and collaborations among the researchers at home and abroad, as well as enhance the basic and applied researches on bioceramics. Prof. Jianhua Yang, the deputy director of SICCAS, and Prof. Congqin Ning, the chief of the S&T department of SICCAS, attended the forum.
In this forum, three famous experts, Prof. Kunio Ishikawa from Kyushu University (Japan), Prof. Feng-Huei Lin from National Taiwan University (Taipei, China) and Prof. William Lu from the University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong, China) gave the lectures on “Traditional Bioceramics for Future”, “Inorganic Nanomedicine” and “Bioceramics for Osteoporotic Bone Fracture Treatment and Complications”, respectively. The three splendid presentations aroused great interests and extensive discussions among the participants. The forum provided a good platform for the participants to exchange their point of views and the latest research progress, and exerted a far-reaching influence on the future research trend on bioceramics.
