Prof. Zhiguo Yi’s Team Receives JACerS 2018 Best Paper Award

During the 2019 International Conference on Materials Science and Technology (MS&T2019) held in Portland, Oregon, USA, the research team lead by Prof. Zhiguo Yi from the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was awarded the 2018 Best Paper Award of the American Ceramics Society (JACerS Best Paper Award).

The Best Paper Award was selected by the editors and reviewers of the American Ceramic Society's flagship journal, Journal of American Ceramic Society, from more than 800 papers accepted for publication in 2018, and a total of 15 papers were awarded this year.

Prof. Yi’s paper, entitled “Leadreduced Bi(Ni2/3Ta1/3)O3PbTiO3 perovskite ceramics with high Curie temperature and performance” (J Am Ceram Soc. 2019;102:1227–1239),  has made the contribution to the study of ferro/piezoelectric materials to minimize lead content while maintaining high performance via the systematic investigation of the structural evolution and electrical properties of Bi(Ni2/3Ta1/3)O3PbTiO3 perovskite ceramics. This work was cooperated with Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Prof. Yi's team is mainly engaged in the interdisciplinary research on ferroelectric physics and photocatalytic chemistry. Previously, they discovered the strain-induced anomalous photovoltaic effects in centrosymmetric bismuth vanadate semiconductor materials [Advanced Materials 2018, 30, 1801619], which was awarded the 2018 Best Paper Award by the China Instrument Functional Materials Society Electronic Components Key Materials Committee in April 2019
