Prof. Satoru Tanaka from the University of Tokyo Visited SICCAS

On January 4, 2010, at the invitation of Prof. Xuebing Zheng and Prof. Zhaoyin Wen, Prof. Satoru Tanaka from the University of Tokyo visited SICCAS with his research team.

Prof. Satoru Tanaka is the professor of Nuclear Engineering and Management School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo. He is a distinguished scholar in the field of nuclear engineering, especially tritium related research. During this trip to SICCAS, he and his team gave us five lectures titled “Tritium behavior in breeding materials”, “Tritium behavior in metals including W”, “Modeling of tritium in W”, “Mechanical property of lithium pebbles” and “Tritium and defects in ternary lithium oxides”. Dr. Yaran Niu and Dr. Xiangwei Wu in our institute presented two lectures as well, titled “Behaviors of deuterium and tritium in plasma sprayed W coatings” and “Chemical processes for lithium ceramic breeders” respectively, for academic exchanges.

Researchers and students from the Key Laboratory of Inorganic Coating Materials and Key Laboratory of Energy Conversion Materials attended the lecture. They exchanged ideas with Prof. Satoru Tanaka’s team on the topics both interested. After the lecture, Prof. Satoru Tanaka and his team visited the Key Laboratory of Inorganic Coating Materials and Key Laboratory of Energy Conversion Materials.
