Prof. Xiao-xing Xi’s lecture in SICCAS

This week Xiao-xing Xi, professor of the Pennsylvania State University, was visiting the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, another institute adjacent to SICCAS. Invited by Prof. Hui Gu, He came to SICCAS and gave a wonderful lecture on June 3rd. As a professor in both department of physics and department of Materials Science and Engineering, Xiao-xing Xi has made scientific achievements in the areas of nanoscale ferroelectric and multiferroic thin films, Multi-band superconductor and Oxide thermoelectric materials. In this seminar, Prof. Xi introduced their newest results on nanoscale BaTiO3/SrTiO3 superlattices and ultrathin BaTiO3 films, including fabrication, calculation and characterization. Particularly utilizing UV-Raman spectroscopy to study the nanoscale films is an important progress in this area, which will have significant effect on the future research for nanoscale ferroelectricity. In addition, the successful collaboration between his team and other international groups was also very impressive.
