Key project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China- “Analysis and research of Chinese ancient ceramics” was successfully concluded and appraised to “Level A”

   On May 23, 2009, the evaluation conference of the key project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China- “Analysis and research of Chinese ancient ceramics” was held in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Professor Chen Kexin, Miao Hongyan from department of inorganic non-metallic materials science, National Natural Science Foundation, and the five–person expert panel attended the evaluation conference. Academician Gan Fuxi was the head of the expert panel. Chief of the science and technology division Wang Dong, and the research staff from Ancient Ceramics Research Center in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics took part in the conference.

   Professor Luo Hongjie, director of the project, presented the research progress of the project. Professor Li Guoxia from Zhengzhou University, Professor Feng Songlin from Institute of High Energy Physics also reported the relative research findings.

   The expert panel thought that the project made great progress in establishment and generalization of testing standards on ancient ceramics, construction of Ancient Ceramics Database, the study on physicochemical basis for ancient ceramics, and replication of famous ancient porcelains and making the past serve the present.

The project was appraised by the expert panel to “Level A”.
