Seminar given by Dr. D.Golberg from MANA

    A seminar entitled “In-situ TEM electrical and mechanical properties measurements of low-dimensional inorganic nanomaterials” was held in Inorganic Materials Analysis and Testing Center on Mar.24, 2008. Prof. Dr. Dmitri Golberg from Nanoscale Materials Center and World Premier International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (MANA), Namiki, Tsukuba, Japan introduced his in-situ TEM researches in recent years. Electrical and mechanical properties measurements of low-dimensional inorganic nanomaterials were performed by high-resolution field-emission transmission electron microscopes at 300 kV which adopted dedicated piezo-driven STM-TEM and AFM-TEM holders. His research group has succeeded in the electrical and mechanical measurements of many individual nanostructures like multi-walled boron nitride and N-doped carbon nanotubes, zinc oxide nanorods and nanowires, double-walled carbon nanotubes, cadmium sulfide nanobelts, multi-walled carbon nanotubes filled with copper copper iodide etc. These remarkable research results have been published in Nano Letters, Advanced Materials and Applied Physical Letters.
