On August 9th , the managing director of the Max-Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids (MPI-CPfS, Dresden, Germany), gave a talk entitled "Biomineralization " in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics (SICCAS ). He visited our institute on the occasion of attending an IUPAC project meeting organized by Prof. Jing-Tai Zhao. The director of Shanghai Institute, Prof. Hong-Jie Luo, welcomed him and discussed with him about broadening of future collaborations between the two institutions. Prof. Jing-Tai Zhao and Prof. R. Kniep are both members in the CAS-MPG partner group and have long term collaboration. The seminar attracted many scientists as well as students from different research centers, such as Crystal Research Center, Bio-materials Research Center, the State Key Lab, etc. The talk stimulated hot discussions. It is for sure that the scientists and the students from our institute benefited from the talk and discussions. And it is expected that the biomineralization research as basis of biomaterials can be strengthened in our institute. After the seminar, Prof. R. Kniep visited a few research labs.
