SICCAS to provide TeO2 crystals for the project of CUORE

The new approach based on the use of cryogenic low temperature detectors will be adopted in search for double beta decay (DBD) by INFN laboratory, Italy. The whole project is called Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events (CUORE). This setup will consist of 1000 cubic crystals of synthetic TeO2 crystals of 5×5×5 cm3. Shanghai Institute of Ceramics will provide these cubic TeO2 crystals in batch.

The experts from CUORE visited TeO2 group of SICCAS from   May 9th to May 22nd. They confirmed the productive capability of the TeO2 group on the locale. Once established, this project will bring 40 to 50 millions of RMB income for SICCAS in 3-5 years and also enhance the international glory of SICCAS synthetic crystals.
