Professor Andre LARBOT From Institut Européen des Membranes visited SICCAS

—Applications of Ceramic Membranes for Purification

From 26 March to 6 April, as academic exchanges, Professor Andre Larbot from Institut Européen des Membranes (IEM) visited Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS). He was warmly welcomed by Professor Luo Hongjie, Professor Song Lixin and Professor Hu Xingfang. During his visit, Professor Andre Larbot presented a lecture on Applications of Ceramic Membranes for Seawater Desalination and Air Purification. Professor Andre Larbot introduced present situation and prospect of the development of inorganic membranes and their applications.

IEM is a public laboratory supported by National Education Ministry and Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). IEM is a joint research laboratory constituted of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier (ENSCM), CNRS and Université Montpellier Ⅱ (UM II).

Thanks to kindly support from Programme franco-chinois de recherché avancée (PRA), SICCAS has been engaged in close cooperation with IEM in the field of inorganic membranes for many years. With the scientific cooperation between IEM and SICCAS, an expected dual-functional composite material has been developed. The device possesses good separation ability as well as high photocatalytic activity. It could act in simultaneous water separation and purification treatment.
