Congratulations to Chengcong Li and Cuicui Cao for their review paper in Device
Temperature-adaptive radiative modulator (TARM) holds promise for achieving dynamic thermal management passively, which can promote the development of multi-domain safety. Nevertheless, current reviews concentrate solely on a specific application field such as building energy saving, personal thermal management and energy harvesting. The absence of systematic reviews on TARM for safety applications hinders the exploration of promising research topics. In this review, some smart materials with temperature-adaptive thermal radiation regulation like vanadium dioxide, germanium-antimony-tellurium and perovskite manganese oxide and their typical structures are compared and highlighted, and related applications, such as spacecraft thermal control, infrared camouflage and information anti-counterfeiting are introduced. We also share our perspectives of the current challenges, potential strategies, and promising development directions of TARM in cross-field safety applications. Chengcong Li and Cuicui Cao are the co-first authors of the paper.
